CAMP HEX: Join us for a weekend of tech fun!

Kapow Collective and tech collective DO:TOPIA invites to Camp Hex – a weekend camp where we’ll play with tech and digital DIY. We’ll learn programming, creating digital music and to defend our privacy online – and create a lot of cool activist projects together. First and foremost, we are going to enjoy ourselves, lead discussions and celebrate building a beautiful community of tech-interested feminists and activists.

Time: 22 September at 16:00 – 24 September at 14:00

Location: We have rented a beautiful holiday camp house in Dronningmølle, with a large garden, fire place, situated 100 meters from the ocean.

Villingebæk Strandvej 575 A
3100 Hornbæk

It costs 300 DKK to join Camp Hex.

The price covers the whole weekend -both food and accommodation. – Rental of the colony will be covered by funds raised from foundations, and all organizers and teachers work voluntarily. The ticket price therefore only covers food. If the price is too high for you, get in touch and we’ll find a solution.

As our everyday lives are increasingly integrated with technology and digital communication, it has serious consequences for our society that the tech industry is distinctly male-dominated. We want more women and minorities to be able to become software developers, security experts, electronic musicians and content creators on the Internet. Camp Hex is not a separate camp only for one type of person, but a venue that is open to people of all genders. We do, however, prioritize giving special room for women and minorities.

We create the content together – that means that you as a participant can both learn and teach. You don’t have to be tech savvy or able to code, as long as you are curious and want to learn and create with others.

Get in touch if you are interested in teaching a workshop or something else at – and do not worry – if you have never done a workshop before, we’ll be happy to help you get started.

Number of participants
We have set a maximum number of participants for Camp Hex at 30. We have chosen to organize the camp for a clear group as it is the first (but hopefully not the last time) and for a safe and intimate atmosphere where everyone can get to know each other.

SveaDan is a relatively small colony, used for everyday use by schools and kindergartens from Copenhagen. There are three ‘dorms’, all with bunk beds. Participants will therefore sleep in the shared rooms, and we will divide the sleeping areas when we arrive based on preferences. If you have a place to stay nearby, you are welcome to do that too.

We create CAMP HEX jointly. This also applies to the practical tasks of cooking and cleaning up. All campers will therefore have one or more duties on the food team, and on Sunday before departure we are all helping to clean the place nicely.

The food is vegetarian and / or vegan so everyone can eat and we keep the cost down. If you have allergies or special needs, get a hold of us

The colony Sveadan is located in Dronningmølle, in scenic surroundings and close to public transport. It takes about 1.5 hours from Copenhagen Central Station. You can either find it yourself or you can take the common departures from the Central Station on Friday 22:00.

We will send all practical information to participants by mail. In addition, you can stay up to date and meet the other participants in the Facebook event.

KaPow Collective is an activist movement. We build and occupy space to educate each other and break down the society’s oppression mechanisms, focusing on gender issues. We mix music, art, activism, and creativity.

DO: TOPIA is an activist collective of cyber ministers, internet nerds, digital activists and curious people. We organize events about programming, do-it-yourself technology, cyber security, etc. We are looking for proprietary systems and platforms, and guard against Big Brother.
